Children’s performance: Courageously forward

Monday 13 October 2014

Children from the Child Friendly Space in Primary school “Posavski partizani” from Obrenovac performed the theatre play “Courageously forward” in the Belgrade’s City Assembly reception hall, with the support of Save the Children. Performance “Courageously forward” is a fairy tale whose main characters are group of children that are starting the search for a Water Queen to convince her to stop the rain that endangers the lives of people in their village for days. Even though this performance is created in the light of floods that children from the Child Friendly Space experienced in the past period, this allegory surpasses fantasy. It reflects numerous life truths, in a simple children’s way and with no big words. It affirms nobility, goodness, love and care for others and the world – even in the hardest of moments.

In a greeting to children and parents, Belgrade Mayor Sinisa Mali expressed a great pleasure for having the opportunity to attend this performance, as a part of marking of the Children’s week, whose authors and performers are children from Obrenovac. He was especially glad to have had the opportunity to attend it together with the children from the Residential care for children from Zvecanska street. “As a Belgrade Mayor and as a parent, I believe that the children are the future of this city and we will do everything to ensure happy and careless childhood”, he said.

Save the Children Director of Programmes Ahmed Pjano thanked the children for fantastic performance and also to the City of Belgrade and Social Welfare Secretariat for the hospitality and opportunity for children to talk about their experiences and views after the floods.
