Tuesday 4 April 2017

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s most successful tennis player Damir Džumhur has been officially promoted today as Save the Children’s Ambassador in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Džumhur has thus confirmed his commitment and dedication to children’s rights and child protection in Bosnia and Herzegovina! Recognising the importance of good start for each child and access to basic services for all children, the successful young tennis player has joined the efforts of Save the Children’s campaign “Every Last Child”.

At the press conference held in Zenica today, Damir Džumhur together with Save the Children Director signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, making official the partnership of the organisation with this successful BiH athlete. With this, Dzumhur now stands side by side with world famous names such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Garner and other ambassadors of this international organization.

“We are very happy to be launching our cooperation and partnership with Damir Džumhur, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s most successful tennis player. Damir embodies Save the Children’s values. The fact that BiH public knows him and recognises him as a role model for young people will enable messages from our Every Last Child campaign, as well as our efforts towards achieving that all children in Bosnia and Herzegovina grow up in safe and encouraging environment, to reach all parts of our country and a large number of children, parents and authorities“, stated Andrea Žeravčić, Director of Save the Children.

„I'm very greatful to Save the Children for recognizing me as someone who can  be a propper Ambassador of the organization. I'm glad to be able to support the children, since I trust that children are the greatest treasure and they need to be supported and encouraged until achieving their goals. I hope that through this campaign I will be able to help Save the Children in their intention to have every last child fulfilling their dreams,“ stated Damir Dzumhur at the signing of the memorandum of cooperation.

The three year global campaign “Every Last Child” was launched in spring 2016, with the aim to ensure that all children have equal opportunities to survive, access healthcare, education and other basic services, regardless of who they are and where they come from.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the campaign focuses on creating prospects for all children to have access to preschool education, as a basis for good and equal start for every child. In line with global campaign objectives, we will particularly focus our efforts on ensuring that children from vulnerable groups, such as children with developmental difficulties, children from rural areas and Roma children, also have equal opportunities like all other children, and that they are provided with preschool education.
