To what extent state institutions apply recommendations from the Ombudsman?

Tuesday 18 November 2014

Round table on the topic of Implementation of the recommendations of Ombudsman Institution from the Special report “Role of the Social Welfare Centers in protection of child rights” is being held in Sarajevo today.

The Institution of Human Rights Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina prepared the Special report “Role of the Social Welfare Centers in protection of child rights” in 2013, in line with its jurisdiction and with support of Save the Children. The Ombudsman Institution conducted the research and prepared the report, and recommendations were sent to the relevant state bodies with aim to improve position of the social welfare centers as well as to identify future direction of activities of the Ombudsman Institution, in the area of child protection, based on the research findings.

Having in mind that it is a practice of the Ombudsman Institution (as well as one of its primary goals), to monitor realization of recommendations issued in the special reports, today’s round table is organized in order to discuss if and to what extent are these recommendations, related to the role of social welfare centers in child protection, adopted and applied. The round table is another in a series of events, organized with support of Save the Children, on the occasion of marking the 25th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UN CRC).
